Showing at the Chicago Art Department
A prototype for my 2nd gen work on display 11/14 & 11/15
Posted Nov 11, 2008
This weekend, my friends Mike Nourse and Nat Soti are celebrating 5 years of managing the part gallery, part school, all Pilsen Chicago Art Department. The party on Saturday includes live music, food, drinks and the work of over 30 local artists on silent auction. They're asking for a suggested donation of $25 for the night. The price drops to $20 if you purchase a ticket before Saturday.
- When: Saturday November 15, 6PM-10PM
- Where: 1837 S. Halsted, Chicago, IL
I've donated a 15' x 15' piece that represents my latest efforts. The new work consists of an archival print plus an 2 additional layers. Several coatings of UV protective veneer act as adhesive, holding a transparent stencil cut overlay. The overlay explores a shared history of the subject through symbols, icons and words.
- Preview Exhibition: Friday November 14, 6PM-10PM (FREE)
If you can't make it out on Saturday, Friday night from 6-10 you can stop in the gallery for a sneak preview of the 30+ artist show. Friday is a free event and since it coincides with the monthly Pilsen gallery walk, there will be a bunch of shows opening in the nearby galleries. Come on out and support Chicago artists!
